We are looking for a Research Associate I to work in the lab of Dr. Jennifer Karmouch, Director of the Microbiome Core and Co-Director of the Microbiome Program. With extensive experience in molecular genetics and microbiome research, Dr. Karmouch has made significant contributions to understanding the role of the gut microbiome in health and disease. Her research has uncovered novel strategies to modulate the intestinal microbiome, including the use of selective antibiotics, dietary interventions, microbial restoration and targeting bacterial metabolic pathways. These approaches aim to enhance immune reconstitution and improve clinical outcomes in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.

As a successful candidate, you will:

·         Conduct tissue culture, maintain cell cultures and apply aseptic techniques for various cell lines.

·         Conduct cell staining for Multicolor Flow Cytometry

·         Assist in murine surgical procedures, tissue harvesting/preparation, and contribute to revising/maintaining lab protocols.

·         Provide routine lab support and maintain activities in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

·         Utilize the following in vitro skills (not limited to but including): RNA/DNA extraction, RT-qPCR, bacterial transformation, cloning, lentivirus production, etc.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

·         Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience

·         Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy in lab work, and robust record-keeping skills
