Position Summary:
The Health Information Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of electronic health records that directly support patient care and revenue cycle operations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Review medical records for completeness and accuracy in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assign and track record deficiencies to clinicians for timely completion
  • Support providers with documentation completion and respond to inquiries
  • Manage release of information (ROI) requests from patients, attorneys, and third parties
  • Monitor compliance with medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements
  • Perform document scanning, indexing, and quality assurance for electronic records
  • Conduct audits and ensure data integrity across patient records and systems
  • Support coding and billing processes through charge capture and account review
  • Maintain referring provider data and support continuity of care systems
  • Collaborate on system upgrades, testing, and special projects

Qualifications

Your qualifications should be:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of medical records experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical record processing, release of information, and charge capture
  • Understanding of Title 22, CMS, Joint Commission, and HIPAA regulations
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
