City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and treatment facilities in Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix. Our dedicated and compassionate employees are driven by a common mission: To deliver the cures of tomorrow to the people who need them today.

We are seeking an Evaluation Treatment Center (ETC)/Urgent Care Nurse Manager for City of Hope Orange County Cancer Specialty Hospital where you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the operations of a high-acuity, fast-paced 8 bed-unit that provides urgent and emergent care to our patients. This unit serves as a critical access point for patients experiencing complications related to their cancer treatment, disease progression, or other acute health concerns.

This role requires a strong clinical background in oncology and/or emergency care, paired with outstanding leadership and operational management capabilities.

In collaboration with oncologists, and interdisciplinary teams, the Nurse Manager promotes evidence-based practice, optimizes patient flow, and maintains a therapeutic and supportive environment. The Nurse Manager also ensures compliance with institutional, state, and federal standards, while fostering staff development and patient-centered care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Direct, supervise, and support nursing and clinical support staff in the ETC/Urgent Care unit for oncology patients.
  • Coordinate 24/7 clinical operations to ensure timely triage, evaluation, and treatment of acutely ill cancer patients.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain optimal patient-to-staff ratios and high standards of care.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives targeting oncology-specific metrics such as infection control, pain management, and treatment timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, Oncology Nursing Society guidelines).
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and the cancer care team to develop protocols for managing oncologic emergencies.
  • Support professional development, certification, and continuing education for staff in oncology and emergency care.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence in care delivery for patients and families navigating cancer treatment.
