Job Summary

The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing clinical and administrative duties in a fast‑paced clinic environment. This role ensures efficient patient flow, assists clinicians, and provides high‑quality service to patients and caregivers. The CMA/RMA works under the supervision of the Practice Manager, Director, Medical Oncologist, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated patient care tasks within scope of practice.

  • Support clinicians during patient assessments, treatments, and procedures.

  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive patient experience.

  • Triage phone calls and relay messages to clinicians as appropriate.

  • Complete routine clerical tasks, including documentation support and chart preparation.

  • Assist with communication between patients, caregivers, physicians, and clinical departments.

  • Manage ordering and restocking of clinical supplies.

  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, glucometer testing, transcription, and EHR documentation.

  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

  • Report to the Practice Manager and/or Director for daily assignments and performance evaluation.

Education Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program
    OR

  • Completion of an unapproved Medical Assistant program and national certification (AAMA, AMT, or equivalent)
    OR

  • Completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program
    OR

  • Completion of another relevant and applicable clinical program

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a similar role

  • Specialty experience preferred

  • At least 3 years of Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital or clinic preferred

Certifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential required (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
