The successful candidate:
Schedule:
3 days per week, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM between Mon - Fri
Every other weekend, and rotating holidays
Department: Emergency Department (primary work location)
Position Summary
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for completing all tasks related to the EHR admission and discharge process for both outpatient and inpatient encounters. This role ensures accurate collection and verification of patient demographic and insurance information at every registration and provides exceptional customer service in a fast‑paced Emergency Department environment.
Key responsibilities
Completing registrations for multiple patient types, including ED, surgical, physician office visits, transfers, and inpatient admissions.
Managing the 24/7 registration hotline and the hospitalist hotline.
Accepting patient payments, issuing receipts, and handling financial documentation.
Providing general patient information and assisting with required forms.
Scanning and uploading documents into the EHR daily.
Maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and efficiency while working in a high‑volume ED setting.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Hospital registration and/or insurance experience preferred.
Minimum 1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting.
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to exercise sound judgment.
Proficient with typing/keyboard skills, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Familiarity with office equipment (copier, fax, scanner, printer).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional telephone etiquette.
Self‑starter who can work independently and maintains reliable attendance.
