Position Summary
The Senior Regional Nursing Director (SRND) - North Valley (locations - Antelope Valley, Mission Hills, Palmdale, Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, & Thousand Oaks) is responsible for the clinical care delivery and management of clinical operations for the ambulatory facilities on a 7-day/week, 24-hour basis in collaboration with the Vice President, Associate Chief of Nursing. The SRND provides leadership, direction, and consultation to Clinical Network practice leadership and clinical staff regarding all patient care, patient quality, and clinical operations safety issues. In collaboration with Leadership and the Vice President, Associate Chief of Nursing, she/he contributes to the development and implementation of programs and systems to meet departmental and divisional objectives consistent with City of Hope’s philosophy, mission, vision, and strategic plan. In collaboration with the Vice President, Associate Chief of Nursing, the SRND plays an active role in developing and implementing the tactics that drive our strategic efforts to achieve balanced scorecard goals and ensures that strategies, clinical practice, and tactics are aligned with the enterprise as a whole.
This individual is a positive leader with excellent people skills, communication skills, and a high degree of emotional intelligence. The SRND will encourage open and positive communication always acting as an advocate for COH, the staff and our patients and will collaborate with both internal and external customers to meet our strategic goals. This person is a change agent and encourages staff to welcome change; monitors and controls resources (human and material): provides excellent customer service; encourages higher learning and professional development in staff and for self-development. In addition, the SRND assures professional and regulatory standards are met and maintained at all sites assigned.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Program Planning and Goal Setting
- Lead departmental programs and initiatives supporting organizational strategic and patient care goals.
- Implement new technologies, services, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Establish, monitor, and achieve annual departmental goals.
- Communicate effectively with leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
Patient Care & Clinical Quality
- Ensure delivery of safe, timely, and evidence-based patient care.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Monitor quality metrics and implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Promote patient, physician, and staff satisfaction.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to support high-quality clinical outcomes.
- Oversee patient safety reporting processes and follow-up actions.
Personnel and Human Resource Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain competent clinical staff.
- Ensure effective onboarding, orientation, and ongoing staff competency.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Maintain appropriate staffing plans and oversee temporary clinical staff.
- Promote professional development and participation in shared governance initiatives.
Fiscal Accountability
- Participate in development and management of departmental budgets.
- Monitor financial performance and address budget variances.
- Identify capital equipment and program needs.
- Support ROI analysis and resource planning for new services and initiatives.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing and As of January 1, 2020, must be enrolled in master’s Program or must obtain within 3 years of hire or transfer date.)
- California RN License
- 3 years of experience in area of expertise relevant to the department with demonstrated progressive leadership growth.
- As of June 1, 2020, National Certification from approved list in area of expertise or leadership certification (must obtain within two years of hire of transfer date into position).
