The Senior Category Manager is responsible for developing and driving category specific strategies in their assigned category with a focus on "best value" and Total Cost of Ownership. Acting on own initiative, this position is responsible for driving strategic sourcing best practices, including RFx activities, establishing/maintaining supplier partnerships, and identifying supply risks and opportunities. Must be solution-focused, analytical, and have a strong bias for decision making rooted in data and analytics. Being comfortable with presenting data to stakeholders to promote the sourcing strategy is vital. The Senior Category Manager will be part of a Strategic Sourcing team at a very well established, world-class cancer research and treatment organization.

Job Summary
The Sr. Category Manager leads sourcing and category strategy for capital equipment and medical equipment across the organization. This role is responsible for optimizing pricing, quality, delivery, service levels, and total cost of ownership while partnering closely with clinical, operational, and supply chain teams. The Sr. Category Manager will lead complex sourcing events, vendor negotiations, contract management, and long‑term category strategy development.
Key Responsibilities
Category Management
Lead sourcing strategy for capital and medical equipment categories.
Manage RFx events, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution.
Analyze spend data, market insights, and financial impacts to identify cost‑savings and supply risk mitigation opportunities.
Partner with Purchasing Operations and Materials Management to resolve supply disruptions and support inventory continuity.
Develop and maintain a Category Strategy (roadmap) and lead cross‑functional sourcing initiatives.
Drive process improvements, cost transparency, risk‑management practices, and productivity savings.
Support clinical teams with equipment standardization, business case development, and utilization insights.
Vendor Management
Develop and manage SLAs and KPIs to ensure supplier accountability.
Facilitate quarterly business reviews with suppliers and stakeholders.
Enforce compliance with procurement policies, clinical guidelines, and industry standards.
Foster strong supplier partnerships and support Supplier Diversity efforts.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, consulting, or comparable functional areas.
Experience with capital equipment and medical equipment sourcing is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in General Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
Strong negotiation, analytics, project leadership, and vendor‑management skills.
Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams and driving sourcing process improvements.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced healthcare setting.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities. Strong organizational skills.
Software Skills
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling, data analysis).
Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP, Lawson, etc.).
