Laboratory Technical Assistant - Clinical Pathology Sendout – Full-Time, Days

As a Laboratory Technical Assistant, you play a vital role in the hospital's Clinical Pathology team. Your primary responsibilities include receiving, processing, routing, and storing specimens from all areas of the hospital. Additionally, you provide crucial support and assistance in various laboratory tasks within the specimen processing area. By efficiently managing specimens and collaborating with the team, you contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives and ensure smooth operations within the laboratory. CLICK HERE to learn more about the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center! 

Additional Note: This position requires flexibility to accommodate varying patient needs. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call responsibilities and mandatory overtime may also be necessary.

As a successful candidate, you will: 

  • Ensure receipt and accurate processing of electronic orders into the LIS and HIS systems using standard procedures.

  • Troubleshoot specimen discrepancies, communicates with providers to clarify unclear test orders.

  • Receive, handle, and transfer phone calls and messages within the department promptly and courteously.

  • Perform inventory, inventory control tasks, clerical duties which include maintaining, scanning and filing documents

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Up to one-year experience in a hospital laboratory setting preferred, working with clinical laboratory specimens and staff
