We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to join the Stem Cell-Based Disease Modeling Shared Resource and support the activities of the CIRM Organoid Core.
This is a hands-on role focused on the generation and optimization of iPSC-derived organoid models, with particular emphasis on brain, eye, and endothelial organoids. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of new models and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet the evolving needs of investigators across the institution.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Support investigators in the design and development of organoid-based projects.
Manage project timelines and ensure high-quality data delivery.
Oversee sample processing and report delivery.
Provide training and educational activities for core users.
Possess strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a service-oriented core environment.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
PhD in biology, bioengineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrated expertise in iPSC culture and differentiation.
Proven experience working with 3D culture systems and organoid models.
Strong track record of technical proficiency and scientific rigor.
Ability to manage multiple projects and interact effectively with diverse users.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., confocal microscopy, live-cell imaging, high-content imaging).
Familiarity with image analysis pipelines (e.g., ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler, or similar platforms).
Experience implementing or working with laboratory automation systems (e.g., liquid handlers, automated culture platforms).
Experience with assay development, validation, and SOP standardization in a core or shared resource setting.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to collaborative and multidisciplinary projects.
