Join the transformative team at City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and treatment facilities in Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix. Our dedicated and compassionate employees are driven by a common mission: To deliver the cures of tomorrow to the people who need them today.
The Executive Director of Growth and Market Planning leads a dynamic team focused on positioning City of Hope to achieve strategic growth goals across the system. As a key leader within the System Strategy Office, this role oversees market intelligence, market planning, growth strategy, and system-wide analytics. This individual partners closely with enterprise leaders to align strategy, drive actionable insights, and support executive decision-making across both existing and emerging markets.
You will serve as a highly visible leader, helping translate complex market data into meaningful growth opportunities—connecting analytics, marketing strategy, and operational capacity to bring more patients through the door while advancing system-wide priorities. This role requires a unique skill set that blends advanced analytics, business strategy, and executive presence—someone who not only does the work but confidently presents and influences at the highest levels.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Lead system-wide growth strategy by analyzing market data, industry trends, and internal performance to recommend opportunities for expansion
- Develop and guide market entry strategies, including evaluating new geographic opportunities and enhancing existing market performance
- Facilitate growth planning across disease programs by aligning market demand, provider capacity, and system priorities
- Build and manage forecasting models for patient volume, provider capacity, and growth projections across regional and national markets
- Translate complex analytics into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making at the executive level
- Partner with marketing teams to align go-to-market strategies, ensuring campaigns effectively drive demand and new patient access
- Evaluate partnerships, network strategies, and alternative care models (e.g., partnerships vs. brick-and-mortar expansion) to support holistic growth
- Lead competitor intelligence efforts and bring forward insights that shape strategy and positioning in key markets
- Deliver executive-level presentations and recommendations that influence growth decisions, capacity planning, and investment priorities
- Foster cross-functional collaboration across strategy, operations, finance, and clinical leadership to drive enterprise-wide alignment
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- 12+ years of progressive experience in healthcare, including strategic planning, analytics, business development, or operations
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams and solving complex business challenges
- Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape, particularly oncology care delivery models and growth strategies
- Advanced analytical capabilities, including forecasting, modeling, and synthesizing large datasets into actionable insights
- Proven ability to connect market data with growth strategy—moving beyond “number crunching” to drive meaningful outcomes
- Experience in developing and executing marketing-aligned growth strategies that increase patient access and volume
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, present, and communicate effectively with senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both regional and system levels, aligning local initiatives with enterprise priorities
- Advanced proficiency with analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SAS)
