The Data Scientist will query and analyze large, complex datasets to generate insights that support an evolving cancer care delivery environment. This role applies advanced data mining, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns, build predictive models, and deliver actionable solutions. Working cross-functionally with clinicians, administrative leaders, and IT teams, the Data Scientist plays a critical role in translating data into meaningful impact across patient care and operational outcomes.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and technical teams to support data-driven decision making
  • Query and analyze large datasets across multiple systems
  • Develop and deploy machine learning and predictive models
  • Design and implement pilots to validate and optimize models in real-time environments
  • Create data visualizations, technical documentation, and executive-ready presentations
  • Translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage projects involving complex datasets and cross-functional teams
  • Independently execute analytical work from hypothesis through final deliverables
  • Identify patterns and trends to support innovation in care delivery and operations

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with data analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, R, Java, or C/C++
  • Strong experience with SQL and working with relational databases
  • Experience with machine learning (e.g., Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM) and deep learning techniques (e.g., CNN, RNN, LSTM)
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data to develop testable hypotheses and predictive models
  • Experience with data visualization and communicating insights to non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage complex projects
  • Familiarity with healthcare data, EHR systems, genomics, or medical imaging preferred
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and modern data science tools preferred
