The Clinical Pharmacist II (CPII) is a licensed professional responsible for supporting clinical research by reviewing protocols and managing investigational drug therapies. As a key member of a multidisciplinary care team, the CPII provides direct patient care for individuals enrolled in clinical trials, delivering comprehensive medication management and developing patient-centered therapeutic plans in collaboration with providers.
In this role, the CPII oversees investigational drug processes, supervises pharmacy technicians, and supports operational and compliance activities within the research pharmacy. They ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant medication use while contributing to performance improvement initiatives and departmental goals. The CPII also represents the research pharmacy across disease teams and clinical committees, fostering strong collaboration and driving positive patient outcomes.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Provides comprehensive medication management services, coordinating all clinical pharmacy functions for patients enrolled in clinical trials to help achieve compliant, safe and per-protocol use of investigational drugs.
Reviews investigational medication regimens for appropriateness, contraindications, and potential interactions.
Participates in the development and implementation of formal and informal drug education and clinical consultation to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff in the form of in-services and continuing education programs within their area of practice.
Actively participates in organizational, regional and national patient safety initiatives as determined by COH strategic goals and mission.
Serves as an authority on drug information; usage, interactions, dosages, and compliance to medical staff, nursing staff, technicians and students.
Uses appropriate references to research drug information.
Performs all other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Graduate of ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School or School with ACPE accreditation pending
PGY1 and PGY2 residencies, or PGY1 plus two years of experience as a clinical pharmacist, or Five years of experience as a clinical pharmacist Current CA Pharmacist License
BLS certification through the American Heart Association
3 years of experience working in an investigational drug service 2 years of experience working in an oncology setting Pharmacy Research, preferred
