Position Summary

Under the strategic leadership of the Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety, the Director of Quality and Performance Improvement leads hospital-wide initiatives that ensure high-quality, safe, and effective patient care. This leader drives clinical quality, peer review, and performance improvement programs while partnering with physicians, nursing, and administrative teams to foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization. [

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Lead the hospital’s clinical quality program, ensuring alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards

  • Monitor and improve key hospital quality indicators such as mortality, readmissions, and patient safety outcomes

  • Partner with physician and nursing leadership to implement evidence-based care practices

  • Oversee quality data collection, validation, and reporting to regulatory agencies

  • Direct medical staff peer review processes and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards

  • Lead performance improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA cycles

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary teams to address patient safety events and drive measurable improvements

  • Develop and present quality dashboards, scorecards, and insights to executive leadership

  • Collaborate with risk and patient safety teams to support a culture of transparency and safety

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and drive organization-wide quality initiatives

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field (RN required)

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospital quality, performance improvement, or clinical operations

  • Expertise in peer review, OPPE/FPPE, and hospital regulatory compliance

  • Strong knowledge of quality metrics, data analytics, and performance improvement methodologies

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks

  • Advanced analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Proven ability to influence physicians and senior stakeholders

  • Master’s degree (MHA, MPH, MSN, MBA, or related) preferred

  • Certifications such as CPHQ or Lean Six Sigma preferred
