We are looking for a Senior Manager, Administrative Clinical Research Programs that will provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership for clinical research activities within City of Hope Orange County. You will oversee research portfolio development, grant and contract administration, clinical research operations, regulatory compliance, and program execution. You will support investigators through research infrastructure, funding management, protocol oversight, and cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this position serves as a key resource for clinical departments, ensuring successful delivery of research initiatives, operational excellence, and achievement of program objectives.

As a successful candidate, you will:

·         Lead the strategic development, growth, and performance of clinical research programs by establishing operational plans, monitoring key metrics, and aligning resources with organizational objectives.

·         Partner with research and physician leadership to develop research priorities, build program infrastructure, and support the expansion of clinical and translational research initiatives.

·         Oversee pre-award activities for grants, contracts, foundations, and clinical trial proposals, ensuring timely submissions, regulatory compliance, budget development, and stakeholder coordination.

·         Manage post-award administration and financial stewardship for a diverse research portfolio, including grants, contracts, clinical trials, and philanthropic funding.

·         Direct budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, effort certification, contract management, and resource allocation to ensure responsible use of research funds and compliance with sponsor requirements.

·         Oversee clinical research operations, establish performance measures, and drive process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and operational effectiveness.

·         Serve as a key liaison between investigators, clinical departments, and centralized support offices to facilitate research activities, regulatory requirements, and cross-functional collaboration.

·         Lead program administration by coordinating research meetings, strategic planning activities, and communications while serving as a primary resource for internal and external stakeholders.

·         Provide leadership and oversight for research personnel, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

·         Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience can be substituted. 

·         5+ years progressively responsible for business management, project and program management within an academic or research environment including experience in research budget development and management plus 3 years of experience in management capacity.

·         Preferred Courses/Training from the National Council of University Administrations (NCURA) or Society of Research Administrations International (SRA)

·         Certification Association of Clinical Research Professionals – Certified Professional (ACRP) is preferred but not required

·         Masters degree preferred with 8+ years clinical research administration experience including managing pre-award process of grant and protocol proposals for multiple projects. Knowledge about federal grant application, processing and management plus 2 years of progressive responsibility supervisory experience.
