Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Planned Giving, the Senior Executive Director, Planned Giving serves as a subject matter expert and strategic leader responsible for driving fundraising success. This role is primarily frontline-focused, managing and soliciting a portfolio of planned giving prospects, while also providing guidance and leadership across the team. The Senior Executive Director will develop donor strategies, cultivate relationships, and collaborate across the organization to support a high-performing, metrics-driven fundraising program.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects, developing and executing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors
- Build and advance a strong pipeline of prospects through strategic identification, qualification, and engagement efforts
- Lead and support planned giving fundraising initiatives aligned with institutional priorities
- Prepare compelling proposals and presentations to secure philanthropic support
- Conduct donor meetings and cultivation events to educate and engage prospective supporters
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including physicians, leadership, and fundraising partners, to drive joint solicitations
- Provide planned giving expertise, tools, and guidance to colleagues across the Office of Philanthropy
- Oversee and grow planned giving programs, including donor societies, marketing efforts, and engagement initiatives
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Stay current on planned giving trends, regulations, and opportunities to enhance program impact
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, philanthropy, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related nonprofit environment
- Demonstrated success managing donor portfolios and achieving fundraising goals
- 3–5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of planned giving vehicles such as trusts, annuities, bequests, and non-cash assets
- Experience working in complex healthcare or academic environments preferred
- Proven ability to build relationships with high-level donors, volunteers, and internal stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital engagement tools and social media platforms
