A Research Associate I is available in the lab of Dr. Sarah Shuck.  You will provide technical support for NIH-funded studies investigating how metabolic dysfunction promotes prostate cancer progression through methylglyoxal-mediated DNA damage. You will be responsible for executing laboratory experiments and maintaining day-to-day research operations in a collaborative translational research environment.

As a successful candidate you will:

·         Perform mammalian cell culture, including maintenance of prostate cancer cell lines and primary cultures.

·         Conduct molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology experiments, including Western blotting, qPCR, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and ELISA.

·         Assist with mouse studies, including tissue collection, sample processing, and record keeping.

·         Prepare samples for histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and LC-MS/MS analyses.

·         Maintain laboratory inventories, prepare reagents, order supplies, and ensure laboratory organization and compliance.

·         Accurately document experiments, analyze data, and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks.

·         Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to troubleshooting and protocol optimization.

·         Assist with preparation of figures, reports, and manuscripts.

·         Perform general laboratory duties such as stocking supplies and perform routine analysis of samples.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

·         Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience

·         Experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques preferred.

·         Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
