Position Summary:
The Statistical Programmer position supports biostatistics and data science activities across a diverse portfolio of cancer research studies within the Exercise Oncology Program. Working under the supervision and mentorship of a PhD-level biostatistician and alongside investigators in the Exercise Oncology Program, this position contributes to observational cohort studies, clinical trials, and translational research projects involving clinical, behavioral, wearable-device, and molecular datasets. This full-time position supports data cleaning, harmonization, statistical programming, reproducible research workflows, data visualization, reporting, and preparation of scientific products that advance research in cancer prevention, survivorship, treatment outcomes, and exercise oncology.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Cleans, validates, harmonizes, and manages research datasets from clinical trials, observational studies, and molecular ‘omics data
Performs statistical programming, data management, and data visualization using the R statistical programming language
Generates publication-quality tables, figures, reports, dashboards, and presentations for manuscripts, abstracts, grant applications, and scientific presentations
Creates reproducible data analysis reports using Quarto and R
Uses Git/GitHub for version control and to facilitate remote collaboration on projects
Assists with statistical analyses, interpretation of research findings, literature reviews, and evidence synthesis activities under appropriate supervision
Prepares analytic datasets, data dictionaries, codebooks, workflow documentation, and study documentation to support transparent and reproducible research
Supports development and maintenance of internal and open-source R packages, analytical tools, and reusable code resources as needed
Support development of models for predicting clinical outcomes of interest
Collaborates with investigators, clinicians, research coordinators, data managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to support ongoing and emerging research projects
Performs special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Bachelor's Degree, Master’s Degree preferred. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
Minimum Experience:
One-year experience in biostatistical consulting and analysis
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
Preferred Experience:
Biostatistics or Statistics, Epidemiology, or related fields
Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of the R statistical programming language
Working knowledge of statistical methods commonly used in clinical, epidemiologic, and biomedical research, including descriptive statistics, bivariate association tests, regression modeling, longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, and methods for multiple-testing correction
Experience preparing analytic datasets, data dictionaries, tables, figures, and technical reports
