Thank you for your interest.  Please note, the purpose of this posting is to recruit for on-going and future positions.

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

The Department of Diabetes Immunology within the Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute (AR-DMRI) at City of Hope has an opening at any professorial rank (Assistant/Associate or full professor).  Our research depth in diabetes and cancer makes this institution unique, providing opportunities for scientific and clinical distinction and collaboration across disciplines, for example cross-talk between diabetes immunologists, cancer immunologists, and beta cell biologists.

City of Hope is also home to the Wanek Family Project for Type 1 Diabetes, a philanthropic partnership designed to advance novel therapies for type 1 diabetes. The Wanek Family Project and a new Department of Diabetes Immunology are directed by Alberto Pugliese, who joined City of Hope in October 2022. The Department is being expanded with strong focus on human type 1 diabetes and translation.

As a successful candidate, you will:

·         Be a scientist with interest in understanding islet autoimmunity and more broadly the disease pathogenesis at the preclinical and/or clinical levels and with the desire to translate promising insights into biomarkers, treatments and potential cures for type 1 diabetes.

Qualifications

·         A Ph.D. and/or MS and possess a record of scholarly accomplishments (high-impact publications, extramural funding, national and international awards) commensurate to the faculty rank. Applicants will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an open, collaborative mindset.

  • The required extent of qualifications will vary according to career stage and will help determine the rank of appointment (assistant, associate, or full professor):
    • Scholarly accomplishments
    • Extramural funding experience
    • Impactful mentoring and teaching skills
    • Interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills (relationship-building, communications, listening, negotiation diplomacy)
    • Integrity, honesty and inclusive behavior
