Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Srividya Swaminathan in the Department of Systems Biology at City of Hope. We study processes within lymphocytes and those outside (in the immune microenvironment) that drive the development of lymphoid malignancies including B- and T- cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphomas. We apply this to develop therapies that specifically target malignant lymphocytes. Research in our lab spans Hematology, Oncology, and Immuno-Oncology. The Postdoctoral Fellow who joins the team will lead a project focused on specifically targeting diseased immune subsets in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and indolent lymphomas. The Fellow will perform experiments using transgenic and transplantation mouse models of lymphoproliferative diseases, primary cells from patients, humanized mice, gene editing, classical molecular, cell biology, and biochemistry, and single cell sequencing approaches. The Fellow will also contribute to other ongoing immuno-oncology projects in the team.

As a successful candidate, you will use the following methods:

  • Immune profiling (cytometry, scRNAseq).
  • In vivo assays (mouse genetics, intravenous and intrafemoral transplantation assays, subcutaneous pump implantation for delivery of candidate therapies, humanized mouse models, pre-clinical testing of immunotherapies in xenotransplantation models, bioluminescence imaging).
  • Molecular biology and biochemistry (retroviral/lentiviral transduction, molecular cloning, high throughput RNA/DNA sequencing, qPCR, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, Luminex, CRISPR-based gene editing of immune cells).

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • PhD in Immunology, Cell, Molecular biology, or another field related to Life Sciences.  Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience performing in vivo procedures in mice.
