Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism | City of Hope National Medical Center Duarte Main Campus

The Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (DEM) at City of Hope provides care and conducts research on a variety of endocrine and metabolic disorders, including but not limited to: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, thyroid cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and cancer-related endocrine disorders.

Join our rapidly expanding, nationally recognized cancer institute as we seek to hire an early-career physician to join our faculty as a full time Assistant - Associate Professor level Clinical Endocrinologist with a focus on diabetes and metabolism. City of Hope has a long and impressive history of groundbreaking discoveries in the field of diabetes and cancer. This is an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the advancement of diabetes medicine.

The Department of DEM manages approximately 4,500 individual patients annually including 7,500 outpatient visits and 6,500 inpatient visits. The Department has eleven faculty and hosts a training site for ACGME fellowship training program. The faculty working in the Department will have the opportunity to participate in the research activities in the Beckman Research Institute and the Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute at City of Hope.

    Position Attributes:

  • Opportunity to lead the departments obesity and weight loss programs by serving as Medical Director, of the Obesity and Metabolism Clinic.
  • A mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities:
    • Clinic based at Duarte main campus and South Pasadena Network site.
    • Inpatient attending with endocrine fellows.
  • The Physician will participate in the programmatic activities which will support the Medical Center's mission of high-quality patient care, education, and research.

Position Highlights:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD, AD&D, life, Malpractice, CME allowance, 20 days paid vacation, 3 personal days, 18 sick days, 7 holidays, and 10 CME days.
    • City of Hope adds up to 20% of salary to your retirement account (NOT a match—you don’t contribute a penny) each year, up to $61,000
    • Annual academic improvement fund up to $5,000
    • Base Salary: $210k - $280k (base pay commensurate with qualified academic rank). Additional recruitment incentives available!
      • The salary range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.
  • Physicians working for City of Hope Medical Group are now eligible to apply for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program
  • Relocation offered on a case-by-case basis

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Early to mid-career candidates.
  • Proficiency in the management of diabetes with technologies and the care of general endocrine patients.
  • Board Certification (or eligibility) in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
  • Active or eligible for California medical license
