We have an immediate need for a Research Associate II position in the Department of Translational Research and Cellular Therapeutics at the Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute at City of Hope. The primary role of the candidate will be to work as a Quality Control member in the islet cell program which has been established to treat patients with type 1 diabetes and further diabetes research.  This position will require a flexible work schedule, including occasional weekend on-call hours.

 

As a successful candidate you will:

  • Prepare media and buffers, conduct islet cell count and viability assays, and conduct functional tests including but not limited to ELISA.
  • Culture islet cells for QC assays and process clinical research samples.
  • Assist PI on research projects (e.g., cell culture, cryopreservation, qPCR, etc.).
  • Participate in the review and development of new and existing standard operation procedures.
  • Be responsible for maintaining records of performance and analyzing the data using all research applications.
  • Be responsible for equipment management and maintenance of the QC laboratory and its systems in a GLP/GMP compliant state.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree.  Masters degree preferred

·         2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 1+ year related experience with a Master’s degree.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal skills and meticulous documentation practice.
  • Excellent skills for organizing the given multiple tasks and great attention to detail at the bench.

·         Experience in laboratory skills listed above preferred.
