TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, is an affiliate of City of Hope.  We are an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. We work to unravel the genetic components of common and complex diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, infectious disease, and rare childhood disorders. By identifying treatment options in this manner, we believe medicine becomes more rational, more precise and, well, more personal.


This position is for a Research Associate to join the team in the laboratory of Drs Jeffrey Trent and Cristian Tomasetti. We are a fast-paced research lab focused on cancer genomic landscapes, early detection and effective therapeutic intervention in a variety

of populations ranging from underserved human communities to naturally occurring canine and chicken cancers.


This position requires the employee to be a lab leader and perform all duties related to experimental design and execution, data analysis, troubleshooting, general laboratory responsibilities, maintaining a clean lab space, equipment use and maintenance along with assisting/mentoring colleagues, new employees and/or interns. Expectations include maintaining detailed lab notebooks, maintenance spreadsheets and protocols.  The successful candidate will have great communication skills and a willingness to multitask and assist others when needed. These skills allow for a laboratory functioning efficiently producing quality data that will translate into publications and most importantly advances in the clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, execution, QC analysis of study and communication with other groups involved in study.
  • Experiment design, execution and data analysis
  • Training of other junior or new staff members and interns
  • Order and organize lab supplies. Organize and maintain lab equipment
  • Attend and participate in meetings, presentations, seminars
