A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Rui Su, Ph.D., Department of Systems Biology and Department of Pediatrics. We seek a highly motivated candidate to advance cutting-edge studies in RNA modifications, RNA-binding proteins, and leukemia biology.
Since its launch in October 2021, the Su group has produced groundbreaking discoveries published in top journals such as Journal of Hematology & Oncology (2024), Cancer Research (2024), Cell (2023), Cell Stem Cell (2023 ×2), and Nature Cell Biology (2022). The Su research program is currently supported by multiple NIH award (R01, U54) and several other prestigious private awards.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Directly work on the following projects:
1) RNA modifications and RNA-binding proteins in phase separation: Investigate the biological function and molecular mechanism of RNA modifications and RNA-binding proteins-driven phase separation in tumorigenesis, with a focus on leukemogenesis.
2) Mitochondrial RNA biology: Dissect the role of mitochondrial RNA modifications in leukemia metabolism and the retrograde mitochondrial-nuclear communication.
You will be expected to:
- Lead and execute independent research projects.
- Mentor and supervise research interns in the lab.
- Write the research papers, protocols.
- Communicate results effectively in writing and presentations.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- PhD or M.D. with a strong background and profound knowledge in molecular biology, cancer biology, and metabolism.
- Previous experience in working with animal models of human cancers is preferred.
- Evidence of scientific rigor and excellence as documented by peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
