We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our breast care team at City of Hope, Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center in the ambulatory clinic with additional responsibilities in the operating room. The physician assistant will work collaboratively with two breast surgeons, nurses and our multi-disciplinary staff to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing high risk screenings, evaluation, treatment, and follow-up for breast-related conditions.

The role includes conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, breast screenings, managing pre- and post-operative care, performing in-office procedures such as biopsies, IND, cyst drainage and wound care, and supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment journey. The PA will also provide support during breast surgeries, including lumpectomies, mastectomies, and reconstructive procedures, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes and continuity of care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Proficiency in breast anatomy, pathology, and common breast diseases including cancer.
  • Ability to perform thorough patient histories, physical exams, and interpret diagnostic tests (imaging, biopsies, labs).
  • Experience or comfort assisting in the operating room, including knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and intraoperative patient management.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and provide efficient support during breast surgeries.
  • Compassionate and clear communication skills to educate patients on diagnosis, treatment options, and post-operative care.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, nurses).
  • Skilled in office-based procedures such as breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, wound care, and drain management.
  • Ability to manage a busy outpatient clinic schedule while coordinating surgical case preparation and follow-up.
  • Strong prioritization to balance clinical, procedural, and surgical responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to work in both clinical and surgical environments, adjusting to the demands of each setting.
  • Maintains composure under pressure during surgical procedures or urgent patient care situations.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with breast health advancements
  • This position is full-time, 4/10hr shifts, 8am -6pm

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Master’s degree
  • Three years as a Physician Assistant is preferred, (experience with breast surgery) 
  • Unrestricted, Current Physician Assistant license
  • Certified California Physician Assistant license
  • Current DEA license required
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification from American Heart Association
