Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary cancer care team. In this role, you will support patients, families, and caregivers as they navigate the emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

You will provide both practical and emotional support, helping individuals access institutional and community resources, adjust to illness, manage transitions, and make informed decisions. You’ll also facilitate communication among patients, families, and healthcare providers, and may lead support and education groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychosocial assessments and individualized support to patients and families.

  • Assist with resource navigation, including financial, housing, transportation, and community services.

  • Support patients in coping with diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship or end-of-life care.

  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the care team.

  • Lead or co-facilitate support and educational groups.

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the oncology team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW) required.

  • Current Illinois Social Work license (LSW or LCSW) required.

  • Medical social work experience required; oncology-specific experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with behavioral health practices, including psychosocial assessments and interventions.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to deliver educational presentations to patients, families, and staff.
