Histotechnologist Lead - Histopathology Laboratory (Full-Time, Days)

This individual will bring theoretical and practical expertise to support the operations of a busy histology laboratory. The incumbent maybe asked to assist with short-term and long-term strategic operational decisions and planning of a high complexity histology laboratory. They must demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment and provide excellent customer service to the faculty and staff of City of Hope Orange County to improve patient outcomes. 

Performs all duties of a lead histotechnologist in the anatomic pathology (AP) histology laboratory. Assumes responsibility and accountability for all workflow and processes to maintain high quality and productive laboratory, as delegated by the AP laboratory leadership laboratory.

As a successful candidate, you will: 

  • Lead preparation of high-quality tissue samples and stained slides for accurate diagnostics.
  • Oversee troubleshooting of technical, processing, and staining challenges to maintain lab efficiency.
  • Manage compliance-related tasks, including SOP documentation and inspection readiness for State, CMS, FDA, and CAP.
  • Drive development and validation of new lab procedures and instrumentation in line with best practices.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels using LEAN/Six Sigma principles for streamlined operations.
  • Supervise and utilize electronic Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to support lab workflows.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

  • Associates degree and completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education years of experience
  • 5 years of experience in a histology laboratory with a sound knowledge of best practices.
  • ASCP HT or HTL

Additional Details:

  • Hourly Pay Range: $38.91 - $58.37
  • Day Shift
