The successful candidate:

Schedule: Rotating 8-hour day shifts, primarily Monday through Friday.
Shift Examples: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
Weekend Requirement: One weekend every 8 weeks.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director/Manager of Pharmacy, the Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in both inpatient units and the ambulatory infusion setting. This position is integral to our care model at COH, supporting high-quality, evidence-based patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across Medical Oncology and Surgical Oncology units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing both distributive and clinical pharmacy services.

  • Participating in inpatient rounding and discharge counseling.

  • Managing disease states and chemotherapy toxicities.

  • Performing pharmacokinetic services.

  • Ensuring safe, cost-effective, evidence-based medication use.

  • Staffing in the ambulatory infusion center, including chemotherapy verification, medication dispensing, and drug information support.

  • Collaborating closely with oncologists, midlevel providers, and infusion center nurses.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

Required Courses/Training:

  • Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Current Illinois State Registered Pharmacist license.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in oncology pharmacy is strongly preferred.
