The successful candidate:

Schedule: Five days per week, with weeknight and weekend availability required.
Typical Shift: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious, and visually appealing food and beverage items for patients, staff, and guests. This role ensures alignment with the organization’s Food and Dietetic nutritional guidelines and maintains compliance with all sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards. The Cook also supports daily operational tasks as assigned by leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals that meet dietary and nutritional standards.

  • Ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are followed at all times.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and serving areas.

  • Assist with inventory, food storage, and restocking as needed.

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, and guests.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Culinary Arts education preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in food and beverage, hospitality, or a high-volume hospital cafeteria setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Required (IL): Current Food Handler’s Permit from the County/State Health Department.

  • Certification from an ANSI-accredited food handler training program or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

  • Preferred: ServeSafe certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
