The successful candidate:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing patients’ nutritional status and delivering appropriate Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and education to improve, maintain, or optimize health outcomes. This role plays a key part in the interdisciplinary care team, ensuring nutritional needs are met through evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized nutritional care plans based on comprehensive assessments, dietary restrictions, nutrition support needs, and physician directives. Each RD is expected to manage a minimum of 12 patients daily.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, adjusting care plans as needed. Ensure thorough and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record.
Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Represent the department in community outreach and recruitment efforts.
Collaborate with medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, and other stakeholders to coordinate patient care and support optimal nutritional outcomes.
Oversee foodservice operations to ensure compliance with physician diet orders and quality standards.
Participate in hospital-wide Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Infection Control programs.
Support clinical nutrition and nutrition support services through telemedicine and other internal/external platforms as designated by City of Hope.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN).
Licensure: Active maintenance of dietetic registration.
Training: Ongoing completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain credentials and stay current with best practices.
