The successful candidate:
- Identifies patient and staffing problems/needs and sets priorities. Acts as an advocate and coordinator of patient care with other health care personnel and evaluates patient care measures instituted. Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies. Resource for effective clinical management utilizes the nursing process and has evidence of validation of clinical skills necessary for those activities associated with the care of the patients. Provides patient care as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Identifies emergency situations and independently initiates appropriate action.
- Demonstrates appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in directing and coordinating health care team members, patient care and unit activities. Assists in completion of staff schedules and changes, assures adequate staff available to deliver care. Able to establish goals/objectives, prioritize, anticipate problems and implement plans. Serves as administration and departmental liaison.
- Supports and assists with the development and actualization of the unit goals, strategic and performance improvement plan and KPI’s. Responsible for the investigation of variations in the standards of care. Responsible for performance improvement as it relates to nursing. Documentation of pertinent statistics relative to nursing should be maintained. Takes prompt measure to prevent and address performance and behavior problems. Collaborates with the Nursing Leadership Team in the development of staff performance evaluations.
- Functions as a champion for staff education and excellent performance through orientation and ongoing training. Ensures employee notification and participation in educational offerings as well as real time instruction regarding requirements and guidelines of regulatory agencies.
The Infusion nurse initiates, monitors, and completes intravenous/intramuscular therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, pre-meds and hydration.
- Ability to care for patients with IV lines, central lines and ports.
- Administer and monitor blood products safely.
- Demonstrates competence in chemotherapy administration through ONS.
- Ability to assess and recognize normal/abnormal responses to treatments and institute appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrates skills to assess and intervene in life-threatening situations.
- Administer medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- 2 years Charge Management experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Registered Nurse, Arizona or from a compact state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification-an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire and renewal every two years. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification (if required by hiring department or role)-Employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained.
- ONS Chemotherapy Course as required if applicable by hiring department or role
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) / ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate Course within 30 days of hire and renewal every two years.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 30 days of hire and renewal every two years.
