The SWAT RN serves as a dynamic and highly skilled registered nurse who functions as the house supervisor during assigned shifts and provides direct patient care across multiple units, including the Acuity Adaptable Unit, Heme Unit, and the Evaluation and Treatment Center (ETC). This role is designed for experienced nurses who thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and possess leadership capabilities to support hospital operations and patient throughput.

The successful candidate:

  • Float between the Acuity Adaptable Unit, Heme Unit, and ETC based on staffing needs and patient acuity. Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients across all levels of care, including ICU-level patients. Maintaining competency in specialized areas such as hematology/oncology, urgent nursing, and critical care nursing
  • Perform assessments, administer medications, monitor patient progress, and document care accurately.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Act as a resource and escalation point for clinical and operational issues.
  • Coordinate patient flow, bed placement, and staffing adjustments across units.
  • Support emergency response efforts and critical incident management.
  • Serve as the on-site administrative nursing leader during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
  • Must be able to work 3 12's, 7:00p-7:30a

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • 3 Years of Critical Care nursing experience.
  • BSN
  • Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.  
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and patient needs.
