Responsible for all of the financial management, control and reporting for all of TGen and its subsidiaries and for BRI. Serves as a strategic financial partner for COH Research Enterprise. Will also serve as the lead financial executive for the incubation of commercialization spin outs under development and still wholly owned by TGen. Also oversees operations at Precision Medicine Facilities, working with property management to ensure all TGen building and tenant issues are addressed.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Develop, implement and maintain financial systems and strategies that will support the organization’s mission, goals and objectives.
Work with TGen’s President and COO, to ensure TGen’s financial strategy aligns with the organization’s mission and goals. This includes designing and executing a plan to communicate key elements of TGen’s financial strategy to the Board of Directors, Senior Management, and employees.
Take a proactive role in the strategic development of TGen’s finance functions and financial compliance and reporting capabilities to ensure the proper processes and controls are in place to provide reliable financial information and metrics to evaluate performance and efficiency of the organization.
Serves as part of leadership team for the development of strategies for commercial opportunities, including financial modeling for potential transactions, ensuring negotiated terms achieve financial goals, as well as provide financial leadership for incubator companies/spinouts up the point that they are acquired by a third party or secure an external investor.
Direct overall financial plans and accounting practices of the research organizations, including supervision of Treasury, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Budgeting, Office of Sponsored Research {consider whether this should fall under Finance or Research Ops} and tax and audit activities.
Hire, evaluate and develop finance supervisors. Support effective development and performance of staff.
Ensure effective management of financial operations for TGen and BRI. Ensure all external reporting obligations are met.
Oversee operations at Precision Medicine Facilities in coordination with TGen COO, working with property management to ensure building and tenant issues are addressed (including but not limited to negotiating tenant lease agreements, capital improvements, security and other tenant issues that may arise).
Work with COH System CFO and Research Leadership to assist in developing a financial strategy that supports the Research Strategic Plan. This would include evaluating financial team structure and resources at BRI.
Works with the COH Research Finance and Accounting Team to develop reporting metrics that will help stakeholders understand the financial performance of various PIs and divisions.
Works with COH Research Finance, System Accounting, and Philanthropy to develop a strategy that will help maximize the utilization of Restricted Funds. This includes working with Philanthropy to ensure gift agreements provide the maximum flexibility to allow funding for institutional priorities where appropriate.
Provide leadership and guidance in the development of modeling and forecasting research activities to provide information that will assist in making financially sound decisions.
Assist in the development of financial systems and procedures that will help COH research achieve its strategic plans. This includes evaluation of a new ERP and forecasting tool, as well as changes in processes that will allow for better monitoring and tracking of performance and activities.
Function as the liaison between COH Research and COH Finance and Philanthropy to ensure alignment of strategy and expected outcomes toward accomplishment of goals.
Work with the System CFO and research organization leadership to ensure that the overall financial vision for Research is executed in a manner that aligns with the overall system goals.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration/ Public Health, or related field.
15 years of progressive management experience in finance with five years in an executive level position.
