The successful candidate:

***Shift: Day shift- Varying 8 & 12 hour shifts during the week, some weekends and holidays. Must have ultrasound skills, some vascular access background.***

Responsible for patient's pulmonary function; maintaining adequate oxygenation and ventilation status; supports life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Managing invasive and non-invasive ventilation

  • Assessing vital signs and response to therapies

  • Providing oxygen therapy, assessing patient response, and providing appropriate therapies to meet the patient’s oxygen requirements

  • Obtaining and analyzing arterial blood gas samples

  • Determining home oxygen requirements

  • Administration of aerosol-based medications

  • Delivering appropriate care in the event of a medical emergency (code blue, rapid response)

  • Establishing and Managing artificial airways (Endotracheal Intubation and LMA)

  • Consulting with physicians and members of the medical team to recommend a change in therapy, plan of care for patients, and developing treatment plans

  • Placing ultrasound guided peripheral IVs and arterial lines

  • Analysis of chest x-rays, lab results, and pathology reports

  • Educating and counseling patients regarding pulmonary health, disease management and prevention, tobacco cessation, and discharge instructions related to pulmonary/respiratory issues

  • Performing diagnostic testing related to lung function and capacity (pulmonary function testing)

  • Performing diagnostic testing related to the cardiovascular system (electrocardiogram, stress testing)

  • Assisting physicians in diagnostic procedures (bronchoscopy)

Advanced Job Responsibilities (must meet or train and maintain skills for a minimum of three categories to achieve advanced status)

  • Intubation (LMA and endotracheal)

  • Perform ultrasound guided peripheral IVs, lab draws, arterial sticks

  • Perform ultrasound guided arterial line placement

  • Perform diagnostic testing related to lung function and capacity (pulmonary function testing)

  • Perform advanced diagnostic testing related to the cardiovascular system (treadmill cardiac stress testing)

  • Perform advanced oximetry testing (6-minute walk testing, high altitude simulation tests)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience

Education: Graduate of an accredited Associate of Science Respiratory Therapy program Associate of Occupational Studies, Associate of Applied Sciences

Licensure: Current license to practice Respiratory Care in Arizona

Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials through the National Board of Respiratory Care
