Position Summary
As part of a multidisciplinary team, provide support and assistance to Cancer Risk Counselors. Attend all related administrative meetings. Contributes value to each of the CCG domains (clinical, research and education).
As a successful candidate, you will:
Patient/Chart Preparation
- Assist in pre-clinic patient communications and preparation, obtaining medical records and coordinate the release of records when requests are obtained (from labs, patients or family members)
- Triaging referrals, facilitate patient care under direction of a licensed provider
- Assist in the construction of pedigrees
- Assist with case conferencing as needed
Genetic Testing Coordination and Logistics
- Sample pick-up
- Sample packaging/mailing or coordination of sample packaging/mailing
- Create letter of medical necessity when necessary; facilitate peer-to-peer reviews as needed
- Send follow-up documentation to laboratories
- Send follow-up documentation to insurance companies for authorizations
Document Management/Processing
- Organize and log consultation notes when printed
- Organize enclosures such as pedigrees and external test results to send to medical records for timely integration into electronic medical record
- File ancillary documents and copies in division folders
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- High School diploma or GED with evidence of progress or current enrollment in college, in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program of study.
- 0-1 years of related experience in an administrative, clerical or medical office capacity.
