Position Summary

As part of a multidisciplinary team, provide support and assistance to Cancer Risk Counselors.  Attend all related administrative meetings.  Contributes value to each of the CCG domains (clinical, research and education).

As a successful candidate, you will: 

Patient/Chart Preparation

  • Assist in pre-clinic patient communications and preparation, obtaining medical records and coordinate the release of records when requests are obtained (from labs, patients or family members)
  • Triaging referrals, facilitate patient care under direction of a licensed provider
  • Assist in the construction of pedigrees
  • Assist with case conferencing as needed

Genetic Testing Coordination and Logistics

  • Sample pick-up
  • Sample packaging/mailing or coordination of sample packaging/mailing
  • Create letter of medical necessity when necessary; facilitate peer-to-peer reviews as needed
  • Send follow-up documentation to laboratories
  • Send follow-up documentation to insurance companies for authorizations

Document Management/Processing

  • Organize and log consultation notes when printed
  • Organize enclosures such as pedigrees and external test results to send to medical records for timely integration into electronic medical record
  • File ancillary documents and copies in division folders

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

  • High School diploma or GED with evidence of progress or current enrollment in college, in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program of study.
  • 0-1 years of related experience in an administrative, clerical or medical office capacity.
