As Assistant Research Professor is available in the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope.  This is a part time position working for 8 hours a week. 

As a successful candidate you will:

·         Design optimized genome editing and gene augmentation vectors for the treatment of genetic diseases, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).

·         Design vectors to correct specific pathogenic mutations in target genes in in vivo disease models.

·         Create vectors for the targeted insertion of reporters and correction of mutations at specified genomic locations in target genes across species.

·         Develop strategies to codon-optimize correction sequences to achieve desired expression levels and optimize editing efficiency.

·         Develop strategies to evaluate the outcome of genetic therapies.

·         Oversee and guide the cloning of genetic vectors.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

·         PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with a strong background in molecular biology, genome editing, or gene therapy.

·         Extensive experience in molecular biology and genomics, designing and optimizing gene editing and gene augmentation vectors for in vivo and in vitro applications.

·         Evidence of scientific rigor and excellence as documented by high-impact peer-reviewed publications.

·         Prior experience in translational research and preclinical model development.

·         Demonstrated ability to mentor research associates and technical staff in a laboratory environment.

·         Proven track record of collaborative research and contribution to innovative therapeutic strategies.
