The successful candidate:

Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Days Off: One weekend day off (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Other days off to be determined.

Position Summary

Senior Security Officers will be armed in accordance with Hospital Policy, State, and Federal statutes. Security Officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff members, volunteers, visitors, students, equipment, supplies, and all assets necessary to provide comprehensive health care at COH, Chicago.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to reported or observed acts of physical violence within the hospital.

  • Proactively addressing any overt active threats on the premises.

  • Documenting incidents through detailed reports for situations such as lost and found, alarms, disruptive patients or caregivers, vandalism, theft, and other security-related events.

  • Conducting regular rounds throughout the hospital.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of law enforcement or military experience.

  • Preferred: Departure from law enforcement or military within the last 5 years.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Sound judgment and quick decision-making ability.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic Life Support certification (CPR/AED) within six months of hire.

  • Eligibility to carry concealed firearms under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 or obtain eligibility through the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation under Illinois Statute 225 ILCS 446/1 et seq.

  • Firearm Control Card within 120 days of hire.

  • Maintain current firearms qualification under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004.

  • Maintain a current Illinois Firearms Owner Identification Card (Illinois residents only).
